2019

After 10 years of One Mile Closer, with several hundred riders having ridden thousands of kilometres in Europe and Asia, where better to celebrate that Yorkshire, spiritual home of cycling in the UK, home of the cycling World Championships in 2019, and where Rob and James had spent some happy days cycling as teenagers. This time, we set up a single base - after some hard days out on the road challenging ourselves against the steep Yorkshire hills and changeable weather, we returned to camp in the evening to cook together and socialise in the long evening light of the northern hills.

One Mile Closer was set up in memory Rob Gauntlett and James Atkinson. The boys wished that all young people would be able to have the same opportunities that they had benefited from themselves - OMC raises money to that end.
