Jeju International Festival

2018

Hot of the heels of the European ride, One Mile Closer came back to Korea - not the mainland this time, but the tropical paradise of Jeju! Day One was an international cycling race with hundreds of participants and the OMC members were represented well on the medal tables. The second day involved an entirely different kind of challenge, hiking up and over Mount Hallasan in the centre of the island, remounting the bikes and rolling down into Jeju city. On the third day, a headwind provided a significant challenge as we enjoyed the spectacular scenery of the western coastal road. On the final day, we returned to conquer Mount Hallasan on the bikes, cheering all our riders through the top of the pass in traditional fashion.

One Mile Closer was set up in memory Rob Gauntlett and James Atkinson. The boys wished that all young people would be able to have the same opportunities that they had benefited from themselves - OMC raises money to that end.
