Since the start of OneMileCloser in 2009, we have completed three grand tours (John O’Groat’s to Lands End in 2009, Provence to Petworth 2012 and Pedal home from Prague in 2014) and raised over $100k for Nalango Secondary School in Uganda.
In 200, lessons at Nalango were held outside by the dedicated headmaster, Paul Kasadha, for only a few pupils. Now their two dormitories (so girls do not have to walk home alone late at night), eight class rooms, two hundred desks and most crucially over 620 pupils in fully time secondary education (more than half are girls).
This is outstanding value for money. It is so fulfilling to see our efforts have such an impact on a community, while at our end we are inspiring young people to take on an adventure.
