Occupation: Cardiac Physiologist soon to be student once more
I joined the 'one mile closer' crew for the end to end ride in 2009 as a wobbly novice. I'd had only 2 weeks of practice on a bike that belonged to a friend of mine and I was pretty apprehensive but my back pocket was full of sponsorship money so I had to get on with it! I soon got the hang of riding a razor blade and despite a few incidents, including a run in with a lorry, I had a terrific two sunny weeks riding the length of the UK in memory of two wonderful young men. I was very sad to return Rupert (the bike!) to his owner after he'd taken me the distance, I'd caught the bug and a few months later I bought a shiny new bike of my own. And here I am now!... A little more prepared this time for another exciting journey: Provence to Petworth, via Mt Ventoux, raising money for Nalango secondary school in Uganda. I can't wait for the fun to begin...
